Academic background

Dr. Patrice Mahob holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics from the University of Oklahoma, where he also earned a Master of Science in Geophysics. He received his Diplôme d’Ingénieur de Conception (master’s degree in engineering) in Civil Engineering from the University of Yaoundé – Ecole Polytechnique, Yaoundé, Cameroon, graduating as the top of his class.

Professional journey

Dr. Mahob is a resourceful and results-oriented technical professional with over 25 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and production. His career includes working with multinational companies across various sedimentary basins and serving as an expatriate in Great Britain, Nigeria, Egypt, and Ghana. He has demonstrated success in integrating and interpreting 2D, 3D, and 4D seismic data, vertical seismic profiles (VSPs), and well logs.

Dr. Mahob is adept at assisting geologists and reservoir engineers in identifying and exploiting natural gas and oil resources and integrating subsurface data. He is skilled in prospect generation and evaluation, developing models and applying software for data analysis and interpretation, and optimizing reservoir imaging and characterization. He has provided technical advice and expertise on E&P opportunities to several Executives and executed plans to capitalize on market/industry and client opportunities.

His career includes key roles such as Principal Geophysicist & Special Technical Advisor to the Board of Directors at Springfield Exploration & Production, Geophysics Team Leader / Lead Development Geophysicist at Tullow Oil plc/Tullow Ghana Limited, and Consultant Geophysicist – Pliocene/Miocene Team Lead | Principal Geophysicist – Geophysical Focal Point at BG Egypt/BG Advance.

Achievements

Dr. Mahob‘s key accomplishments include the discovery of the Afina-1X off the coast of Ghana, which holds nearly 600 MMbbls (million barrels) of oil in place, and coordinating the acquisition of the first 4D monitor seismic survey offshore Ghana. He has also led the quality control and quality assurance of seismic processing projects in Nigeria, contributed to increasing BP revenues through increased natural gas production in onshore Oklahoma, and coordinated the largest artic seismic acquisition in North Slope Alaska, USA. Furthermore, he is managing opportunities to expand the Ghanaian Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC) Limited’s scope of Socio-Economic Development Programme in the Oil and Gas Sector and leveraged his knowledge of industry trends to deliver compelling value propositions for Harlequin Oil & Gas Limited by increasing their Ghanaian market share.
